Denied and stuck

I’m frustrated, and starting to feel stuck.

I’ve been working at an agency lender for almost two years as an UW. I’ve been doing grad school part-time for an MSRE and still have another 1-2 years to go. I’ve been trying to get into the REPE industry, but it seems like I’m competing with bankers for the same role.

After countless of applications, I finally had a chance. I went through multiple interviews, then got denied recently. I never had the chance to even do the case study.

I’m starting to think that I should of went down the IB route for two years…. But I think that ship has sailed.

Felt the same last year after my Masters degree. Just got an offer for a PERE Analyst position after an internship at the company. In my experience that’s the best way to get in, even if you you’re overqualified for an internship. Further, it gives you a better leverage position in negotiating your employment terms if the company wants to keep you onboard!

I appreciate the feedback. Now it’s making me contemplate whether or not I should be a full time student to get the “student status” back…but, I’m not too sure if it’s worth the risk.
