An originator is a role that many will exit "into". One does not just start as an originator typically out of college. If you have a good book of business or entering into a firm with great support, then your in a good position, I know it's tempting to always look for something bigger and greater, nothing wrong with that but also dont forget to realize that you might already be in that position that you want to get to when you were thinking about hypothetical exit opportunities.

Then its more of an analyst type role, though some shops can call you an originator. Exit opps is you climbing up the ranks, becoming a producer/true originator as opposed to being an originations analyst. You can remain at your shop or move to another shop-it can be a direct lender or a brokerage. If you can kill it at originations at one place, you can always kill it at another place.
