Farmers of Cash Flow

First day of my MRED program today, and we had a regional developer come speak at one of the lectures. At one point during the lecture he called developers "farmers of cash flow", and explained the statement by comparing how farmers and developers both utilize raw land to 'grow' a product. In the case of a lot of developers, instead of growing potatoes like their agricultural counterparts, they grow a cash flow with the plans to harvest their 'crop' by selling it to an investor. Is this a common expression in the industry? It is definitely an interesting one that I haven't heard prior.

farmers sell a commodity at wholesale price to retailers. Your regional developer has been huffing paint.

26 Broadway where's your sense of humor?

I mean, I guess the analogy makes sense, it's nothing revolutionary though. He could also say they are the "Bakers of Cash Flow", since they create cash flow and sell it as a baker would create a loaf of bread and sell it. Or the "Manufacturers of Cash Flow", since they create a cash flow and sell it as a manufacturer would create a widget and sell it.

Or he could just say they create cash flow and sell it. No need to get philosophical. This is why I believe MSREDs are a waste of money.

Totally. One weird metaphor from a guest speaker completely ruins all of the information, opportunity, resume, and networking gains the degree offers.
