Finding REPE job in tough market
I am a new member here and was wondering if anyone could give me advice on increasing my chances of landing a job in REPE as an Asset Management Analyst.
I just recently graduated and have been searching for a job in asset management at an REPE firm. I graduated from Virginia Tech from their real estate program, which I know isn't a target school, but have been trying to demonstrate that I have the skills needed for the job by getting certificates in ARGUS Enterprise, Break into CRE, and REFM Excel for Real Estate.
In college I didn't have any internships, but while in school I bought two properties that I rehabbed and flip. I know it isn't direct experience in commercial real estate but it is an experience that I believe not many people have done while still in college. I have been trying to emphasize this experience during my interviews.
I have gotten a couple interviews where I've made it to the 3rd round but have not been able to convert an offer at this moment. Is there any recommendations that I should be doing during this job search process? I know my resume isn't that of a traditional person entering into REPE and this path may not be an option based on my current resume. Any advice helps, thank you!
