Full Time Recruiting Timeline

Looking for some advice here. I am a rising college senior currently interning at a small REPE shop outside of Philadelphia. Currently just trying to get a handle on what the recruiting timelines generally are for entry level positions at most REPE firms. Anyone have any experience with this? How far in advance should I be applying to jobs for a start date of Fall 2024?

Even with acquisitions it's way less structured than PE/IB FT recruiting for the most part. That being said, some firms, especially the megafunds that take big analyst classes are likely opening up applications between now and August with superdays later this summer. Most shops are going to be hiring on an as needed basis and you'll find postings in the fall/winter/spring, maybe even next summer given the market. I wouldn't be surprised if some firms are pushing the timeline to see how things shake out this fall. I think the most important thing is to constantly network at funds you're targeting - build those relationships and they can let you know when things are opening up.

Every company is different. Most REPEs are lean teams that only hire when needed rather than the traditional PE firms that have "on-cycle" that are years out. Most of the time they are looking for someone to start ASAP or a couple weeks after the process wraps up. If you're dead-set on starting in the fall and not right away, then you could start applying in the beginning of summer and be fine. Otherwise, I would recommend that you start applying in Feb or March for a job that starts in the summer and assuming you don't get the first job that you apply for, you'll have a start date you'd probably like.
