[Help!] Full Time at PERE Top20 or Internship MegaFund PERE Team

Hi folks!

Need little help here. Just graduated from an Ivy real estate program. Interned junior summer at a PERE top20 shop (US Firm, Asia team, AUM $50b+) in the Acquisitions team and got return offer. Now received an internship offer from a Megafund's (TPG/KKR/BX/Carlyle/Apollo) PERE team (China team, less than $10b AUM).

Given that I have already signed the return offer with the shop that I interned with. Career-wise, would an post-graduation internship with a Megafund still add value to my resume? Or is it better to honor the return offer with the prior shop?

Thanks!

I think you're in a very good spot. I would honor the offer as it's a small industry and it seems like it's a good shop. That being send if you really want to work for a MF then you can likely just make the switch after a couple of years.

TBH I know nothing about China RE but if you want to come back to the states at any point I would suggest that you keep a name brand that people will recognize if came back.

If you don't want to come back you should really dig into a more china focused group, not entirely sure how many people are that familiar with Chinese REPE on this board that can offer meaningful insight. Most advice you will get is going to be very generalist stuff and may not be tailored to your situation specifically.
