Highest Paying Development firms?

Currently at a REPE T-10 analyst 2 going on 3 after the new year. always had an interest in development and wanted to switch over. Got an offer already but appears to be about a 35% haircut, which I genuinely cannot afford due to heavy student loans and HCOL city. Are there any development shops that are known for really good pay? Don’t care about hours just genuinely interested in learning that side of the business. Thanks in advance

It’s certainly possible at the associate level. I’d start really pushing for it around 5 years in.

In any case, that wasn’t the question.

I think ultimately you will be earning less at a development shop due to the nature of the economics that the salaries are tied to. REPE can carry a lot more fees in it's investment structure since the absolute dollar amount is much higher, there is a limit to how much you can bake fees into a development job before you tank the deal. You can make fat stacks in development because of waterfall structures, but as the owner aka if you get a piece of the action, at your level you won't be seeing that. And once you do get that carry/participation it can take years before it pays out, and you know what they say, you can't eat carry.

Not on the dev side and more experienced but I am entertaining offers in more of the 225 - 250 base with 30 - 50% bonus or 75 - 80K base with 350 - 500% bonus.

Mostly family offices and a couple of UHNWI (5B+) to pretty much run their RE asset and tech acquisitions strategies  - I bring a really diverse set of experiences across real estate, tech ventures, and PE.   So not really a typical role.  My experience would likely land me in a VP to Partner role at bigger firms.

Forgot to mention that the above stated comp comes with co-invest and/or carry depending on the deal.

The difference in base comp really comes down to my desire to continue running my own company along with doing one of these roles.
