Hotel chain franchising model

Hi guys!

First of all, thank you for interesting discussion that you post on this forum. I am reading it every week, during flights, and glad to participate.

My question is: can anybody suggest books, persons or case models of hotel franchising. Our family owns small hotel, and I would like to develop franchise model 2 or 3 star hotel or motel chain. I am living outside US, and have visited FL to see RedRoof chain, and received their franchise proposals. May be somebody already had the same tasks, and resolved them succesfully, so we can cooperate on mutually benefit base.

"TheShotgunAndTheBriefcase" I'd look at Accor and Hilton, both made the decision recently to go asset light and split the real estate and the operations

Yes, I read about their decisions to move into franchising model, selling hotels.

I have read and recommend to all good book: US Lodging Almanac 1998, 337 pages of very useful information about hotel business.

I'm not sure if that will be 100% true. Autonomous vehicles could pose a risk, but at the end of the day, the person sitting in the driver's seat is not going to fall asleep. There may be many that adopt autonomous vehicles, but if you ask them if they are comfortable with falling asleep while its on, I bet you'll get the majority to say No. So I am sure there will be a need for hotels on the highway, but don't expect them to be obsolete like Blockbuster.

There are a lot of things that have required the creation of a market and eventually adoption--products that the market didn't feel like they needed or wanted. If I'm looking 20 years into the future I'm definitely not buying into the roadside hotel market. Once the market adopts autonomous cars people will feel comfortable sleeping in them. Volvo already has a sleeper model concept.
