Ladies and gentlemen, perfect evidence of the essential bankruptcy and uselessness of AI.
I mean, you'd think the chatbots would be good enough at this point to at least sound a little bit less like a marketing pitch for AI...
You made this sound like a late night infomercial
If any of you are one of those sales reps blowing up my LinkedIn to pitch some shit AI underwriting agent, please punch yourself in the nuts and kindly leave me alone.
I will state my very low stakes uses of AI so far. I am interested in how others use it even if its tiny stuff, it does not need to be groundbreaking, just useful.
The Claude plugin for excel is great. To be able to highlight an area and just tell it what conditional formatting to give rather than trying to remember the nuance of conditional formatting because you haven’t used it in 6 months. Same thing if a formula is broken you can just highlight the cell and ask why its broken. Same with making macros, just describe what you want. Lots of utility in the plugin, saves googling time.
As for work product I have some skills made that generate certain letters like a lease commencement letter. It just upload the lease and it will fill in everything in my form like the landlord and tenant entities, tenant contact info, dates and relevant lease sections and it will spit the letter out. Maybe it was 20 minutes worth of work and now it is one minute. Mainly it was work for my admin that I just made a button click.
Same goes for LOI’s and RFP’s I have a list of form language I use for first responses on those for Landlords maintenance, sublet/assignment, options, etc. and I made a skill that will redline and insert that form language for initial responses.
For inbox management (the bane of my existence) I have an artifact that will go through my emails and provide a list of emails I missed that were sent to me or where I am CC’d that require a response but it ignores marketing emails, cold emails and the like.
A neat thing we do is we have granola (ai note taking app) transcribe our weekly leasing calls with our brokers, combine that with leasing and activity reports and we spit out a one-page executive summary of the leasing activity and sentiment of our portfolio.
As you can see nothing particularly interesting but there are only two of us with a full Claude Code enterprise account so we are still exploring what we can do in our free time. The utility is definitely in Claude cowork/code function and developing skills and artifacts rather than the chat.
It's very good at solving, or at least telling you how to do certain tech things that you would basically never find let alone figure out on your own.
Just an example, about a month ago I asked one of the LLMs (I think Gemini) how I could setup a vendor intake form and then use that information to be uploaded into our PMS. It gave me a couple of websites to look at for the forms, then said I would either want to use a service like n8n/zapier to receive that information. Or I could just setup a webhook on my computer using ngrok. So I set everything up on some spare computer we had in our office and now the vendors basically setup their profile for me and one of our AP people looks it over and presses an approve button.
It's not a robust enterprise deployment, but it's free and out of the 10 vendors who have used it 6 of them have included ACH information. Before, they (especially the smaller vendors) would act like I was a psychopath when I would call them up and ask if they wanted to be paid that way.
