How to Break into CRE at 25 from banking

Hello,

I did two years of investment banking in FIG and I'm looking to transition to CRE. I have a masters in finance and have taken the break into CRE courses but I want to know the best place to way to land interviews. I am not looking to get to a super corporate REPE and I am trying to get to a smaller shop where I can learn a lot

Because they know how to grind and it’s easy to get them to work 60+ hours a week after coming from an 80+ hour a week job. Pisses me off too tho.

Just because you did IB doesn't meant you get to pick where you go. You're competing with people who did REIB and analysts who are already in the industry. No one wants to spend time training you. And the CRE market is in a downturn which will probably last until summer next year.

Small shops pay peanuts (many under $100k salary) so OP would have to be willing to take a significant pay cut and in exchange for potential carry or a lateral move.

If OP wants to go to a corporate REPE firm (like TPG) he'd have a better shot, but it sounds like he doesn't want to.
