How to Inquire About Expedited Decision

I have received a verbal offer from a shop that I just completed the interview process with last week (call it Firm B). It is a great offer and I would be happy accepting it, but I am still waiting to hear back from a larger shop (Firm A) I completed a final round with a while ago.

If Firm A were to offer me I would take it over the current one I have in hand (assuming the offer is similar to what others have to told me to expect from them), but the process has taken much longer than they said it would. They are a more reputable firm in a larger market and would probably be a better first step out of undergrad than Firm B (on paper). I already reached out to Firm A two weeks ago and they said the process would be wrapped up by the end of this past week, and that day has passed and I have heard nothing.

I want to reach back out to Firm A one more time to cover all my bases before Firm B's offer expires (one week from today), what is the correct way to do so without coming off as rude or annoying?

Also would be grateful for any tips from anyone who has been in a similar situation before. Thanks in advance!

How long has it been since you interviewed with Firm A? They may just be one of those places that doesn't contact candidates who aren't selected.

I would absolutely reach back out to Firm A and be completely transparent - you have received an offer from another firm you interviewed with but you are far more excited at the prospect of working with their team and need an update on their decision.

Agree with others here, I've done the same where I got an offer and was in the process somewhere else - I emailed the HR lady who was heading it along with the guy I just interviewed with who I would be working under and told them that/see if they could expedite the process. They did and I had the next and final round within a week, ultimately didn't get the offer but it helps if they are interested and you will know at that point.

I'd also say with where were at in the cycle and what is happening in the market I would take any cre role, what is the focus of Firm B vs A. Is it also in a Tier 2 vs 1 market, I'm assuming?
