How to raise equity for the first time? Best methods and practices?

background: We are a 3rd generation family business with a track record in the single family custom home space. We now want to scale our business and take on investors for MF development deals and existing multifamily assets. Being that we never raised capital or have developed a larger project before but have experience in construction, finance and management, what are some creative ways to raise about $10MM in equity each year to give us the ability to deploy approx. 35MM in deal volume in each year? Do we go the Newark/JLL/Colliers route and pay a fee to them for finding the capital or should we reach out to our internal circle of friends and family? what is the natural progression?

What exactly are you looking to do?   The post is a bit confusing, are you looking to do ground up or just buy mf properties?  The best way to do this is different depending on what you are looking to do.  I would start with your local network then begin to scale with equity brokers before going with the large brokerage firms.
