Industrial LM/MM IB to REPE LM/MM

I did not go to a target. I have a year of accounting at Big 4, 1.5 years at LM/MM IB in an industrial group in a (Charlotte, Nashville, ATL, DC) working avg. 85hrs/week.I do not have any real estate experience but want to go into REPE. How difficult will the transfer be without RE experience? How's the modeling? How's the hours? What are best type of REPE shops?Comp? How do I build a good story around not having RE experience? I also would like to eventually do my own REPE type shop…

Check out my Q&A for how I would answer the why RE question, coming from someone who’s interviewed hundreds of candidates ;)

Thank you for the info. When deciding on REPE shop, I see a lot of development shops saying they are REPE but doesn’t seem like it. Basically I want to get into the numbers aspect and stay away from the project management position. You have any recommendations on what to look for or types of strategies/investment thesis/focuses to keep an eye out for?

If that’s not clear I can clarify more.
