Ares is a top shop with the REPE space both in debt and equity. They are lean and investment professionals within real estate and would work across core-plus, value-add and opportunistic strategies. I only know of acquisition folks there and they are the typical REPE candidates (i.e., previous IB experience and have now moved over to the buy-side). WLB can vary. Given the market conditions at the moment, life is quiet with hours ranging from 9:00-19/20:00. However, when deals start flowing in, I would expect those hours to ramp up to 9:00-12:00. Their AUM for direct private real estate holdings in Europe is around $4.5-6bn (I would need to verify those numbers though). Pay would be commensurate to the hour's worked and similar to REPE players such as Northwood, Tristan Capital etc, so £65-80k for Analysts and £80-£100k for Associates (excluding bonus).
