Future employers probably won't hold it against you given the circumstances. Try reaching out to the group you'd be working for and see if they can give you something to work on pro bono or to just study. At the very least you'll gain a reference.

Employers will not hold it against you, it is not a unique or personal item. It's unclear what the job market will be like in a few months let alone a year. I would stay in close contact with the firm that gave you the offer, if you show persistence and understanding of the situation, you may get one of the first internship or jobs when they return.

Those who just disappear..... well.... they will have to start all over again.
