Internship in Real Estate Division - Important terms/skills?

Hi,

I am very interested in real estate acqusition/development/management and managed to get an internship in my first year of University at a bank with a pretty expensive and growing portfolio.

I already ordered a book that discusses acquisition and development of real estate - however I would like to here from people who have worked there before about skills and terms I would need to know (especially because I have a lot of slack-time during my current internship in the bank and would like to research a bit)

Looking foward to your answers.

Kind regards.

RE is different from the way you would look at and value other industries, so anything you try to learn now will probably just confuse you. Just keep doing what you are doing, and familiarize yourself with the major REITs and recent deals in the space (I think the SPG / GGP deal was huge before it got pulled. Those are two major mall REITs). Also, keep an eye on how the RMZ is doing. You will pick up a lot when you start. They are not expecting RE experts as summer interns. Don't stress at all.
