Internship Workload

I'm interning at a small REPE shop (<250m AUM) and workload this summer has been minimal. I am constantly asking for anything to do but mainly just sit around all day reading WSJ and scrolling LinkedIn waiting to be given work. Am I screwed for FT or can I chalk it up to bad deal flow from interest rates? any advice appreciated.

Take something you're interested in that the firm is not doing. Pitch it to your direct line manager and do research on it as a side project.
