Jumping from Analyst position in Middle Market IS to Institutional Debt & Equity (NYC)

Currently working as a year 2, Middle Market IS analyst with a firm that is probably between 4-8 in NYC sales by $ volume. Very interested in potentially jumping to the an Institutional D&E team such as Cushman, Newmark, JLL, etc... Wanted to know the feasibility of this and what would be the best way to go about it (e.g. reaching out to current team members at each group).

Additionally, if my goal is REPE is the jump worth it? Feel like I don’t learn a ton about the financing side of things from my current position but overall my exposure to different asset classes is pretty damn good. I’ve worked on $100m+ deals several times despite our group being “Middle Market”. Also, a few members of my group have made the jump to reputable REPE shops themselves. At the end of the day, just trying to position myself as well as possible for the eventual jump to the principal side.
