Lawyer to CRE job?

Has anyone had experiencing going from BigLaw real estate practice group to a job in the industry (not counting in-house role + investment committee/the equivalent)? Is this doable? Would it be worth taking a significant pay cut going from a top firm to client in a role where you’re not just running the papering of their deals from the client side?

PM me for details. I know people who made the move (former attorney here). It is uphill (more doable than going into financial services) but 100% worth it. Big law sucks.

I know quite a few people in development who started life as attorneys, it is doable. The big question is whether you are trying to jump fully to industry and complete leave your lawyer persona behind or if you are willing or wanting to work as an "in house" and/or have quasi-lawyer type duties working for a real estate firm. The latter is probably easier (and will allow you to keep same pay potentially), but may be not want you want to do.

Either way, if you are dedicated to "jumping" you can do this.
