LP to GP -> too late?

Hi,

Coming to WSO today as I am seeking guidance from peers. Did a 2 years analyst stint at a large Real Estate firm on the GP side, doing acquisitions and a bit of development. Very interesting experience but wanted to try the LP side, and I jumped at a top 5 REPE company (according to the PERE ranking, somehow questionable) in a team allocating capital but also doing co-investments. I have been here for 2 years (now Associate 2) and I am really regretting my move (mostly checking Excel Business Plan and bothering GPs with poor and unrealistic questions/askings from the management...). My concerns are:

Does it sound possible to make the move back to the GP side, underwriting deals by myself, and so on at the associate/senior associate level?

Would it hurt my resume to leave now as I did two years stint at both well-known names in the industry? (afraid to look like the opportunistic guy jumping over firms for money, or not be reliable at all...)

Thank you for helping.

My dude, you're at a top 5 REPE shop - you can go literally anywhere this early in your career. Switching back to a GP will be no problem particularly given your prior experience. Just say you wanted to try a more pure-play capital allocator role and didn't like it, want to get back to being hands on.

Two years at each role won't look bad this early on, but I'd try to stay in your next position a little longer.
