MF Pay & other random questions
I know that there is practically no WLB at any of the megafunds in acquisitions roles, but does anybody know what they pay all in at the analyst/associate/VP levels these days? I've heard ~230 analyst and 300-350 for associate?
Anybody have an idea for what return offer rate is at apo/kkr/bx/starwood?
Do you typically have to get an MBA to be promoted to VP?
200-230k seems right for analysts at those funds but only at those funds. Other large funds like Carlyle, ares, Oaktree, are closer to 170-200 for analysts. Associate comp can range from 250-350 depending on if you’re at ares or Apollo but typically scales with hours and stress
This might just be the craziest thing that I have read all year.
what's so crazy about OP?
An analyst making $230k/year or and associate making $350k/year. Even at megafunds, that is mind blowing. I'm assuming you're referring to 1-3 year analysts and 3-5 year associates.
Nope … first year AN/ASO figures at most MF shops
Associate making 350 is a bit wild but it is possible at Blackstone/apollo. Now an associate making 250k at a mega fund? It would be surprising if they made less than that tbh lol. Honestly 250k as a first year associate is market or slightly below market at a megafund.
Following - Know a lot of acquisition guys at non-mega funds making only about half this with 2-5 yoe
Talked to Starwood when I was at ~1.5 YOE and they quoted me at $240k all in. Did not get job so no other info.
Unless you are heavy on bonus and do a shit ton of deals, there are very few shops that will pay 200k in the first three years. I know people at Tishman that worked as an "experienced analyst" who did not make this. I would be curious the shops that the OP is referencing.
