New CoStar Verification

So apparently CoStar now requires you to have their phone app, and when you log in through the website you need to:

1), Verify that it is you by taking a picture of yourself in the CoStar app. 2). Scan the QR code on the computer with your phone 3). Re-verify that it is actually you with a face scan to make sure it matches your picture. 4). Finally can use CoStar's service.

This is extremely annoying to have to do this every time I log in. Hopefully they get some push back on this...

Update: Got an email from CoStar regarding this change. Gave some bs reason such as data protection, and security features. What they probably meant was "we don't like people sharing accounts and we want to collect more data".

Costar seems to be slowly rolling this out. For people that have licenses for quite some time (4+ years) it's standard log in where you just have to click "I accept" when logging in. Then Costar integrated a text verification function, about a year or two ago - I only saw people having to log in with this function if you recently received a new costar license (my analyst had to do this and I tried to get the old way for him, costar said no dice).

This photo verification thing thing though... News to me. that's bullshit IMO.

The real question is are they going to steal and watermark/copyright the photos they are collecting from people?

"Who am I? I'm the guy that does his job. You must be the other guy."

Have started having to do this. Incredibly annoying. The most annoying part of it is that they claim is it for security reasons, which is total BS. I have multiple bank/credit card accounts that do not go to this extent to secure log ins. It is totally about people using one account on multiple comps/locations. Maybe this is a stupid way to look at it, but I would be much less aggravated if they would just come out and say that, and not act like they are doing this for the greater good of their clients. This move is all about the investors. I called them and asked what would happen if I tried to log on without my phone available and they said I would just be SOL.
