New York Life Real Estate Investors - Associate

Received an offer here and another small REPE shop and debating which one I should take.

I could not find much discussion about LifeCos on this website. I have worked on deals with a few LIFECOs but never New York Life.

Any insight into their team and any advice on potential exit opportunities would be great.

From the people I talked to,it seems like in NYLREI the juniors work on debt and equity across all asset classes.

I worked there. Amazing company. All offices are great. The team has generally worked together for 20+ (senior team) years so everyone treats people nicely and with respect. The hours will be good. You’ll learn a ton about institutional process and have great deal flow. It’s a phenomenal place to learn and cut your teeth. You’ll get exposure to debt / equity and many different asset classes. What office is the role in? And is the role within the ‘analyst pool’ where you work on debt and equity transactions?

exits will be good if you choose to leave. People will like your experience. Many people never leave which makes it harder to move up. But if you wait, they will find a way up for you if you are good. I left for PE and now work at a top developer in my city. DM me if you want to chat more. Always happy to chat offline

My comment was removed. I don’t know why. But DM me if you want to chat. Happy to talk off line too. I worked for NYLREI. It’s a great firm. Many people don’t love and my peers that started me with me - many are still there. You will get amazing training too and see lots of deal flow. Which office is this for and is this in the ‘analyst pool’? I left for REPE and now work at a top developer in my city.

It’s a good place to learn real estate. You can grow, meet smart people, and get good training. Try your best and keep learning!

It really depends on the company, their bonus/long term incentive structure and what market there in.  In my experience, VP level guys in secondary markets are making $200k-$500K.  Add $100k if you're managing a few people.  Tier one markets add 25%.

Could you give some more color on the types of questions / what the modeling test was like? Did they give you a few hours or days to do it and what asset type? Really appreciate it and can private message if preferred. Also did you not take the role and if so, why?
