NYU - Masters in Real Estate
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on NYU's MSRE. I'm in my senior year of college, set to graduate this spring and would like to continue my education and pursue an MSRE. Has anyone here completed an MSRE that could speak to the value of the degree? I have a hard time wrapping my head around the program's tuition, but at the end of the day it plays well into the NYC job market which is quite important for me. Is an MSRE worth the steep cost? Any information would be much appreciated.
All the best,
Pierce
Hey piercec.b.cullen, I'm the WSO Monkey Bot and I'm here since nobody responded to your topic! Bummer...could just be unlucky but one of these topics will help shed some light:
If those topics were completely useless, don't blame me, blame my programmers...

search the forum, should be hundreds of threads on this. the best advice is get real world experience before doing this program.
How difficult is this program to get into? If I had a 2.7 undergrad GPA from a decent school with a year of good work experience would I be a good candidate for the program?

Has anyone heard of or completed the MS in Hospitality Industry Studies or MS in Construction Management at NYU? If so, what are your thoughts? Also, what would be the difference between the Construction Mgmt and a MSRED?
Trying to gain opinions while I weigh options for next year, in the case I don't get accepted to the general MSRE.
An MSCM is very, very different from an MSRED. An MSRED is basically an MSRE with a few more development classes but is still fairly finance oriented as is the industry. I think most schools created or called their degrees MSRED mostly for marketing factors (NYU is maybe one of two schools that legit has both programs and the MSCM, most only have one or the other and no CM). CM is well all about construction mngt, read no finance.....
Very different career paths, little overlap.
