Options for big 4 accountants working with real estate clients?
So my gf works on real estate clients at the big 4 but she hates her job. She works hard but isn’t super crazy about being extremely rich - just wants a better wlb with hopefully an increase or same level of comp.
I don’t know what direction to point her to. She doesn’t know what she wants to do but i’d love to bring her options as well as information on where to find these roles.
are there specific recruiters you know that place CPA’s with big 4 audit background? What career options are there and how can she find these good opportunities?
I’m useless in this regard so appreciate anyone who offers any advice. thanks!
She can do anything she wants. But many people with accounting backgrounds make their way into asset management. The firm I work for - many of the asset managers were accountants.
Agree - if she wants to be a more "front office" role Asset Management is going to be by far the easiest path. I do some AM work as part of my day-to-day role and the guys on our team who have an accounting background are way ahead of me on the property financials side. Depends on shop but most places accounting can help greatly as long as you show a knack for the qualitative side.
Seconding this. An AM with deep accounting knowledge is dangerous. I work with a LP whose AM team comes from Big 4 audit.
If she feels that way, go for a corporate accounting role. They are usually pretty chill and have a good wlb. For someone who isn’t super ambitious, it would be a great role that would still easily pay 6 figures. If she has hit senior, she can probably land a role anywhere from 105k-115k. That’s what I’m seeing people I know get offered.
She could also exit to an FP&A role
