Pension Fund Real Estate
Can anyone provide any insight into the culture & comp at a pension fund owned real estate group for an analyst/associate role? Any insight on exit opps or experiences working in one?

brosidein, bummer your thread hasn't had a response yet. Sometimes bots are smarter than humans anyways:
You're welcome.

Wish I could help. Rumor tells me that it’s slower paced and more about attending investor conferences and researching managers, looking at manager returns and track records and allocating $ accordingly. I assume that it would open exit opps into fundraising or capital markets roles, perhaps?
Worked at a pension fund a few years back that directly owned their real estate rather than going through fund managers. Very much a long-term core buyer. The pension fund didn’t grow much while I was there, so the transaction volume was pretty low… more trading out some assets vs actually growing the portfolio. It was a low stress culture, and the pay was decent at the analyst level. It got much better at higher levels, especially for a LCOL market. Bonus was based on performance of the real estate portfolio as well as the pension fund as a whole.
Most public pension fund salaries are public
