PERE Recruiting Summer 2023

I’m coming from a traditional industrials IB background and plan to go into PERE.

I see the traditional PE recruiting for Summer 2023 has started but when I respond to the HH they seem to not be sure when the PERE cycle/recruiting starts.

Could someone please give me more color on the PERE process for summer 2023.
I’m looking at MM/LM in the south east region (1st yr IB analyst -> PERE Associate).

(…Any additional info on comp would be helpful too- I know there are other threads…)

REPE is a lot less cyclical than corporate PE. The MF will have structured recruiting but you'll see a lot of the MM firms that have ~$1BB or less AUM recruit as needed. You might have a MM REPE not hire someone one year and then next they might hire 2 or 3 for acq because of growth. The reason HH might not know when the "cycle starts" is because there is no true cycle for most of the industry. If you really want to make the switch to MM/LMM REPE then either start looking now to make the jump soon or you don't have to really start until a couple months prior to your planned leave.
