Congrats on the role man. Couple of books that I would recommend to help prepare:

The Real Estate Game by William Poorvu

- good, digestible high level read that focuses more on the rationale and inputs to consider for different real estate investments, as well as general sector advice

Am I being Too Subtle by Sam Zell

- Autobiography by Sam Zell, billionaire developer who founded the REIT EQR

- Has very good insights on his investment philosophy, why it's better to be a contrarian in the space, etc.

The New Kings of New York by Adam Piore

- Goes into the development history of the Manhattan skyline and the key players involved. Very interesting, light read

Real Estate Titans by Erez Cohen

- Interviews a wide variety of CRE professionals across dfferent roles, highlighting what made them successful in their individual approaches

I'm holding off on recommending any more technical/granular CRE books given that you already read Linneman - that should be more than enough to prepare you for valuation theory and the development and investment process. Cheers
