San Francisco Real Estate Professionals
Long story short, I do not know very many people in the industry especially around my age (24) or at all for that matter. I work in REPE in SF and would like to meet more people in the industry and finance in general, I think it would be nice to be able to talk to someone about what I do (and what you do) without having to explain it to you like a 5 year old (very few finance friends lol) so if you are in SF comment here or shoot me a message so we can possibly connect. Also, if you are in another industry (banking, sales, etc) and stumbled on this I'm still interested in connecting with you!
If enough people respond or message me, I will organize a happy hour.
Do you participate in any professional groups e.g. ULI, NAIOP?
Could you talk a little about how the REPE presence is in SF (in terms of how many shops HQ out of there)? Is it pretty big, comparable to the presence in NYC and CHI?
ULI Young Leaders, SFREX, Belden Club, SPUR. There's lots of networking opportunities in SF.
Some REPE HQ'd in SF. Stockbridge, Fremont capital, Veritas, Shorenstein. Lots of big firms have regional offices in SF to run West Coast investments. Firms like Fortress, PREI, MS, Carlyle (in Walnut Creek), UBS Realty, Berkshire, many others including offshore capital US HQ.
Overall great city for a real estate career.
On top of the REPE shops, the developers in SF are really top notch. Related, Hines, Boston Properties, Tishman Speyer, Jay Paul, etc.
Don't forget Kilroy Realty Corp. They are up there for tech spec.
Haven't been to SFREX yet, but agree with all of the above. Go to as many of these events as you can.
SanFran_RE - I am a new member of ULI, but have only been able to make it out to one event this year.
@nestle22" - I don't have any knowledge of NYC or CHI so I can't really compare, but look at odog808's comment
@odog808" - Thanks for the list, Ill have to check those out!
Make it to more. All of the bigshot developers in SF are big into ULI.
I recently joined the board of SFREX which hosts real estate happy hours about once a quarter. The next event will be October 14th at Patriot House. I'm also working to start up the Oakland version. Feel free to PM me for details.
The groups contains a pretty diverse set of real estate professionals. A few principals tend to show up pretty regularly.
You may try exploring the SF Chapter of the CCIM Institute, MAI and RICS.
Good luck!
Not in RE, but do work in finance in SF. I'm new to the west coast so would love to meet some people in general.
