Should I be hung up on job title?

I am currently a 3rd year analyst in investment sales at a top brokerage, looking to leave soon. There doesn’t seem to be a ton of great top tier acq roles on the buyside, so would taking another analyst role, (specifically as a DSF analyst), at another top brokerage be a lateral move/set me behind the curve? Even if pay is more in line with an associate role.

I’d agree to a title of “Captain Dickhead” if they paid me enough.

You said comp is better. If the experience and the team are better too, be an analyst for a bit longer. It’s not like banking where it matters.
