Should I follow up with this alumnus?

Got in touch with an alumnus from my school a few months ago and he was able to help out with getting my resume into his firm's interview pile. Didn't do well during the interview and the firm moved along. Part of me wants to reach out again to get some follow up advice, just about interviewing in general and my next step (now targeting other cities). However, seeing that he vouched for me and things didn't go A+, I'm hesitant to reach back out...

Any advice?

You should reach back out. I would ask him where he thinks you can improve and how he thinks you can better present yourself in future interviews.

Ideally you should have done this soon after the process ended. You don't want to fall of the face of the earth or he may think you just used him to get an interview and when things didn't work out you just moved on.

Makes sense. Had already sent a thank you note, but seems like it's a good idea to go with my gut and follow up again. Thanks for the advice.
