Take Wealth Mgmt Internship?

I received a SA offer for a Wealth Management role at a BB for this upcoming summer. However, WM is not something I want to do long term (Rather be in IB/REIB and/or REPE). It's the only offer I have, and I have had a tough time getting interviews at different firms. Would taking this offer hinder my ability to come on ft and get a job in one of these real estate industries, or should I take the offer and try and get a real estate gig during the school year to make myself more competitive for FT recruiting? I don't want to put myself in a box, but I realize it is tough to get a job, and there's a recession horizon. Any Advice would be much appreciated

I don't think having this on your resume would necessarily hinder your ability to move to RE after, but it won't help you as much as a position on the banks RE team.

My suggestion would be to take it, and keep networking. If something else comes up in RE at another bank or firm, you then have a decision to make. A lot can (will) happen between now and next summer, so I don't think backing out a few months before the start date would be unheard of if you had something better come along.

Worst Case - You do the SA offer in PWM at a BB and use that experience to pivot in RE either at that bank or at another. People have started in worse places
