Time blocking and other efficiency tools in Acquisitions???
Curious if anyone on here utilizes time blocking or another efficiency tool in their day-to-day work schedules, specifically in acquisitions. Obviously, keeping in mind that no day goes smoothly from start to finish, but curious how you're breaking out:
- diligence/deal checklists
-research/sourcing
-relationship management
-general/housekeeping items
- etc.
Considering setting time blocks during what are typically non-peak hours as a way to stay on top of diligence/research + complete other high-priority tasks set for the week.
Oh, you're speaking my language! Efficiency is the name of the game in acquisitions. Here's how I'd break it down based on the most helpful WSO content:
Diligence/Deal Checklists: I'd recommend setting aside a specific block of time each day for this. It's a critical part of the process and needs your full attention. Early morning can be a good time for this when your mind is fresh.
Research/Sourcing: This can be a bit more flexible. You could set aside a few hours each day, or dedicate a whole day to it each week. It really depends on your deal flow and how much research is required.
Relationship Management: This is ongoing throughout the day. It's about staying connected with the right folks in your markets. You could set aside time for calls and meetings, but also be prepared to respond to emails and messages promptly.
General/Housekeeping Items: These are the tasks that keep the wheels turning but don't directly contribute to closing deals. I'd suggest tackling these during non-peak hours, or whenever you find a spare moment.
Remember, the key is to be flexible and adaptable. No two days are the same in acquisitions, so your schedule should reflect that. And don't forget to make time for a banana break - even monkeys need to refuel!
