Using K's vs. M's for $1,000

M for $1,000 MM for $1,000,000
If the end user reading the package cannot use context clues, i.e....
"Wow. They're asking $10MM on a prop with a $500M NOI, how the fuck are the saying it's a 5 cap??? This thing throws off a $500 million NOI for an asking price of $10 million??? wow seller must be a dummy I'm taking him to the cleaner"

M is a romal numeral for 1000 MM would be MxM = 1,000,000
Using a M by itself is a little confusing
Here in America we like to make it confusing
K - Kilo = 1,000 - Metric
MM - Short Hand = 1,000,000 - Roman
bn - Just letters from the English world = 1,000,000,000 - UK Origin from Cambridge
we hashed this out like 6 months ago. Consensus was Billion= Bn, Million = mm, and thousand = k

Have worked for institutional shops and have literally never seen any deck or anything reference thousands as “M”.

True - but also in my entire career I don't think I've ever seen someone shorthand thousands as M, so if you do you're a psychopath.
K for thousands, M or MM for millions idc which.
I agree with this. I've seen people use M and MM for millions. Never seen M for thousands always K.
I've seen it more from the financial side of things and let me tell you what, it's awful.
