What Should I Do?

Hello Monkeys, I have a bit of a dilemma. I just got an offer from my dream firm, in NYC, and I'd be earning a good amount of money as a first year. Huge problem. The issue is I also want to interview for another position that just popped up within the same firm that better aligns with my interests and career goals. I haven't accepted the original offer yet and I'm worried that if I begin interviewing for the other group, it would be viewed negatively and could potentially result in me losing my offer and everything I've been working towards. Internal mobility is preached at the firm which is a bonus and I may be able to pivot after a year, but the role I currently have an offer for is a generalist position (non-sector specific, fewer exit opps) while the role I'm contemplating contending for is more focused and could have exponentially better and more expansive exit opps. What should I do? If I continue in the process for the other role I'd have to disclose it with the team I originally got an offer for-- senior professionals, how would you view this? Is one bird in the hand really worth two in the bush?

TL:DR; I have an offer at a firm but I want to interview with another group before accepting? What should I do?

Personally, I would accept the offer that you already received and try to transfer internally after a year. I think you could definitely end up without any offers if you try to play the field within the same firm. If it was another firm I would say interview and see what happens but within the same firm is definitely a bad look. Ultimately, it’s up to you and what you want to do. If you don’t think you would like the first role and you don’t care if they rescind their offer then it might be worth it.
