Where to start career in CRE

I’m a college senior struggling to decide where I should be targeting a FT offer from going into this year. Right now I have multiple internships at big 4 RE brokerages doing capital markets sales in one and retail leasing in the other. I don’t think brokerage is for me, I don’t like the unstructured nature or the commission based comp. I have aspirations to one day run my own development/investment shop (who doesn’t in RE), trying to make my early career moves around that, I want to land a solid job and then use my comp to build my own portfolio to not have to work for someone else as fast as I can.

I’ve looked into REITs, REPE, brokerage, and I’m just not sure where I’m best suited for. I love the financial analysis side of deals (my interest in RE initially started in real estate investing). I’ve looked into smaller regional developers, for example, yet those firms seem like they’re just family offices and all they hire are property managers. I feel like it’s so tough to really get a good feel of what the firms inside the industry are like. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
