Why are more debt funds not hiring rn?
Title says it all. Seems as if analyst / associate hiring at debt funds is slow as well. Anyone anticipate that picking up?

Low deal volume. Don’t need a lot of staff if there isn’t a lot of work to be done. Obviously it varies based on the specific debt fund but this is generally the reason.
Yeah echoing above. We are looking at tons of deals, but not a lot is hitting. We’ll go super deep and then the borrower is like “ahh debt is so expensive though :(, let’s wait or get a very low leverage senior loan”
Most of the debt fund teams are lean and since there are very few new funds being launched, the teams don't need to hire as their current teams can handle the volume/work.
I know of several debt AM teams that are hiring right now, but the places hiring are looking for experience, not analysts/associates.
Anyone know who some of the more active funds are right now that are putting out capital?
Cheyne Capital in London seems pretty active, Ares as well. Apollo, KKR and BX did very few deals this year. Think most of the funds are just focusing on asset management and waiting for the better times to deploy
interesting that cheyne is looking to raise 9.3, curious where they're looking to deploy all that
Does Cheyne lend in the US as well?
No they are only in European markets per one of the debt analysts I recently spoke with.
