I was told that to only go beyond a one-page CV when I'd been the CEO of multiple FTSE 100 companies. Can't comment on what stage of career you're at, but if I saw a CV with more than one page, I'd ding the applicant immediately.
Hey Earthwalker, it depends on which country you are working in or would like to work. For example, I am in Germany now but have worked across 6 European countries and 2 Asian and almost everywhere a 2 page CV is expected. In some cases, you even need a picture.
So long you have the right reasons and no more than 4-5 points per experience, it would work fine.
To give you an idea, I have 11+ years of experience across 5 industries and have a 3 page CV (Summary and a 2-page experience incl. education, training & certifications, seminars, and lectures I give, etc.)
My understanding is that this is a very culturally driven issue.. In my experience there is a Resume and there is a CV.
Resume is much more American. Keep it to a page.
CV is uhm, British/International. It can be 2-3 pages or whatever.
For the latter, I've never really had one and have just given in my Resume in lieu of it.
For the former if you are having trouble fitting in a ton of stuff, then you either need to cut out details (most people scan docs rather than actually read the whole thing), or tailor it to the position/role, which is time consuming but annoying.
