Canadian senior still without an offer...what went wrong? Maybe it's the resume?

My goal is to move into equities, in Asset Management or equity research.

Resume looks good. Why didn't you get a return offer in AM at the insurance company?
Be honest with yourself -- are you "just another" Asian? I mean that in the sense of whether you interview well or stand out in any way.
Speaking from an interviewer's perspective, I get frustrated speaking with kids who have poor communication skills and no interests outside economics/finance or playing the piano/violin because their parents forced them to.

Well not for the AM/ER roles I want. Maybe my resume shows I'm not interested enough in equities.

Have you reached out to any alumni from your school? Maybe your resume is getting filtered through the wrong circles...do you go to one of the top 5 Canadian Universities? i.e. U of T, Queen's, McGill, UBC, Western?
Ya OCR hasn't been working out...and yes my school is supposed to be the best finance school in Canada...but it doesn't matter cus tons of people are still jobless.
Dude you don't need to have a self-defeating attitude like that. Getting A's in the rest of your classes would help some.
GPA is too low. School is not target for finance. You need to cold e-mail everyone and start now. Linkedin + Advanced search + Run through every firm. Not just alums. Its super disappointing, but the relevance of GPA seems to increase every year. Cut-off keeps getting raised, accelerated schedule means overworked bankers looking for reasons to cut you. GPA is an easy way. Asian is another easy cut especially the combination.
I would put the CSC at the end. Its weird that you list "relevant coursework" and only have one entry. Also, do not say 10+ research reports. Be precise. I know you didn't mean anything by it, and this is how most of us would talk about that experience to our friends, but it just screams "I'm too lazy to spend 10 minutes quantifying what I actually did". You literally just had the internship and you can't keep track of how many reports you wrote? Sorry if I'm coming off strong, just trying to lend a hand. Good luck and don't give up.
I don't see why the relevant coursework is already there. He's going to graduate in the spring so I think it's somewhat redundant. The interviewer will know he took finance, econ, accounting, etc. by then right?
If we are from the same school, then I don't think there were that many AM/ER postings in my year. How many postings did you apply to? Do you know who got the offers, maybe see what they have that you don't? What are your marks like compared to the rest of your peers?
Try to copy the WSO template as closely as possible and try to put your gpa in standard US form. The 80%-83% would be a B or 3.0 which is probably too low for ER or AM.

Just my 2 cents:
80.3% is really low, you're barely in the top half of the class, and half of your classes you're prob below average.
You're not very polished, at least as much as your classmates. I personally think you'd give off a bad impression of the "airport test".
Did you get a return offer? If not why not, think hard why not. Sure, they "aren't hiring", but if you kill it and add value early on and get along with your bosses they will find room for you or at least give advice/recommendations on the sell side.
If you can't outperform in class, and can't outperform on the job, breaking into a job that pays in the top 10%, usually reserved for top 10% students is going to be impossible...
I'd be wary of investing all that time writing the CFA, I don't see it fixing your weaknesses. Maybe take a few years to reevaluate and if you're still 100% certain you want this go for b-school. Finance isn't the end-all be-all.
Your education section on your CV is why you're not getting interviews because it raises way too many questions in the eyes of a resume scanner.
Here's what you need to do: 1) You should communicate your grades as a GPA out of 4.0. Convert your grades and that should help a lot. A 3.7 looks a lot better than an 80%.
2) As a recruiter and looking at your resume, I wonder "why did this kid drop out of Business Administration to pursue an arts degree?". If that's not what happened, you should clarify things. Is your arts degree Economics or something bogus like Geography? My strategy would be to spin "Economics degree with minor in Finance/Accounting/Mgmt (assuming you completed at least 30 credits of something in your business admin degree).
Write another draft of your resume with these items fixed/spun, and repost. I'll recomment.
Not OP, but: 1) The gpa will end up being ~3.7, but the school's alumni know the grades are belled to an 80 with a total stdev of about ~2-3%
2) The degree is well known in Canada, it's not a fluffly art degree...
