FT I-Banking Resume Review

Hi guys,

I have a summer internship lined up, but I am probably going to FT recruit in the fall as well. Here is my current resume (including my summer internship, which isn't finalized yet.

Could you guys give me some feedback on my resume? I will mostly likely be applying for FT elite boutiques and BBs.

Thanks a lot!

I find it pretty funny how your institution gives A+ didn't realize we were still in elementary school. Solid and impressive resume though. I think your Grades/class is a little tacky, your gpa should explain that.

Solid resume, though yeah, who still gets A-pluses? I can't tell you how pissed I get when I get the same grade for a 100 as I do for a 94. Also, why post cum gpa AND major gpa if they're within .01 of each other? Good resume though, but you're already at one of the top boutiques, why do you think you'll be doing FT recruiting?

I think your alignment is off on December 2007 experience though

If you're where I think you are, I see no reason to go BB, unless you really want to stay in/get to the top of the tech space, since said elite boutique is just outside the top tier for that.

On the resume, aside from what's been said above:

  • "acted/directed in" --> "acted in/directed"
  • Get rid of Office, as dosk says, it's like Proficient in Breathing

Not tough to deduce where lasered works. I'll be kind enough not to call you out on it, but considering you still haven't started your SA yet and are looking to move to another bank, cover your tracks better or you'll be dinged before you even start.

Agreed. Those eager asians...

Wow, you are very impressive candidate. I am jealous (not really, haha). Your resume has a lot of worthless info, in no way I am pro at writing resumes, but here is my fresh opinion:

  1. What's the point of putting Major GPA and Cumulative GPA at the same time? Just say GPA 3.92/4.00. Although if I were you I'd write 3.9/4.0.

  2. Add up your SAT scores and shorten Math/Verbal/Writing. SAT: 2340 (M 800, V 770, W 770)

  3. Relevant coursework. Are you serious? You are econ major, no shit you took macro/micro. Same with business admin. The whole section is pointless and takes up space that could be used for much better purposes. I'd get rid of entire 'Relevant coursework'.

  4. No need for "Proficient in Microsoft Office," especially when you are winner of some Case Study.

From my personal perspective, as soon as I saw a bunch of A+'s, cumulative GPA, and major GPA listed, I immediately got a sense that you are very uptight person. But then again most likely I am wrong, just sharing my personal opinion.
