Full Time Resume Tips
I was wanting to know if the format for full-time resumes were formatted differently than undergrad resumes and how so. I would imagine there would be more detail regarding deal experience. Please point me in the right direction.
As soon as you graduate from college and start your first full time spot, move your education to the bottom.
Or at least below your work experience. It can still be above extra information, including organizations and interests.
More broadly, a resume should read like a newspaper. Don't do dumb things like break up the work experience section, but otherwise, Put the most relevant stuff on top, and move on to less relevant things as you move down. If the "greatest hits" don't line up nicely, you can put your elevator pitch right below your contact info, then go into the sections, but keep the elevator pitch short.
Also, non-work skills may go above education. If you are a Bloomberg or Python ninja, that's more important in relevant fields than having gone to Harvard vs. Penn State after your first job.
Lastly, once you're a few years out of school, you should not need to do anything more than mention the degree and school if you have a decent resume. Mine reads "B.A. in XXXX from YYYY University" on the back end of an education/certs line. No GPA, no highlighted classes, etc. School gets you your first, and maybe your second job. After that, it's basically just a box for HR to tick saying "this candidate has his bachelor's."
