Looking for CV feedback for a summer internship in London
Would appreciate any feedback on this. I go to an rg non target uni, the dream was IB but I'm aware that's very ambitious considering what the CV currently looks like, I think I'll target transaction advisory and maybe boutique IB for the summer internship cycle. Had 2 questions:
-
The treasurer role that's on there is for next academic year so I haven't actually done anything for that yet, so the bullet points are basically made up (but I will be doing them in the future). I had a committee position in my first year but did literally nothing as the society didn't function due to the pandemic. Should I keep it there? If I get interviewed before October I wouldn't be able to discuss being a treasurer
-
Should I apply for a mix of London internships and regional ones or just London if my goal would be to work in London? How much more competitive is, e.g. transaction advisory big 4 London vs the same at Manchester?
1) get rid of career objective, this is NOT an industry standard.
2) education section is notably much fatter than work experience which is never a good look, even for internships. Talk more about your university soc position and include some figures. + add any volunteering you have done and a proper extra-curricular section
3) exclude crypto from interests, makes you seem unprofessional at worst and a finance nerd at best.
Generally needs more stats and figures.
Thanks for advice
As the other person said:
Thanks for the advice, that was very comprehensive! I've made changes based on all your bullet points:
I do agree this looks far better. I'm just hoping to get any vaguely finance related internship (audit, regional ib, transaction services, tier 3 consulting) and then after potentially a target masters - I think if I maintain a high first from my rg uni this should be attainable. Thanks again for the help
