Personal Summary on Resume

I understand that the topic of personal summaries on resumes has been discussed before, but recently, I had a conversation with a former VP at a BB and a MD at a regional MM. They advised me to include a personal summary on my resume. This suggestion stemmed from my background, as I initially pursued a heavy quantitative major (think pure math/physics/engineering) at my semi-target school before transitioning to economics and finance at the end of my sophomore year. He even assisted me in crafting and refining the summary until he thought it was good enough to add. Given this advice, I'm contemplating whether to incorporate it into my resume. Are personal summaries still relevant and would it help me break into the industry, or is it considered outdated?

Personal summaries are old af. Resumes are ai screened now and that shit would probably be a ding. You should be able to explain that story upon landing an interview or through a cover letter (if it’s human-read). I guess if your resume’s also getting viewed by a person it could work but I think it’s an eyesore and could fit better in an email/interview/cover letter. Resumes have to be very IB-speific
