Rising sophomore looking to get brutally honest feedback on his resume

Hi everyone,

I'm an international student recruiting for IB SA in the US (and possibly other countries). I’d love to get honest feedback on my resume—what’s working, what’s not, and what I should focus on improving. I’m also looking for guidance on what else I should be doing and what my overall strategy should be for next semester (excluding the obvious networking and technical prep). (Sorry for the horrible quality of image)

Also, should I include in my interests that I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to 27 countries? My goal is to see as much of the world as I can in this lifetime. I just don’t want it to come off as pretentious or anything.

Not experienced in screening IB resumes, but some general resume advice. This is just going straight down.

  1. Throw your test score on there if it's 1500+ SAT or 35/36 ACT.
  2. GPA is mis-formatted. There's a space after the slash, and decimal points should be the same (3.83/ 4.0 -> 3.83/4.00)
  3. Your bullet points should be consistently aligned. The bullet points in your education section are aligned differently than your work experience bullet points. I would suggest aligning as far left as possible to eliminate white space and maximize room.
  4. The "AUM" at the end of the firm names looks messy. If you want to explain your company/organizations, it should be like this
Firm 1 - Middle Market Private Equity Fund/Firm
Firm 2 - Middle Market Private Equity Fund/Firm
    Club 1 - Investment Club
    etc.
  5. I think that you omitted them for confidentiality's sake, but if you didn't, you should put your locations for all of your experiences, especially if they're in the US. If they're US internships, it helps communicate that you aren't FOB. For extracurriculars, put your school, rather than location.
  6. You're missing some numbers to quantify your work. How many valuations? How many metrics? How big are the valuations? etc.
  7. Controversial: I think that clubs should be under a "leadership & extracurricular experience" header, rather than work experience. Feel free to ignore this piece of advice
  8. You need to put months for Model UN/Debate to keep formatting standard.
  9. Do you have leadership experience in college? It might be worth it if you knock off a bullet point for clubs 1 and 2 and then throw in your high school club CS experience under leadership. Then you can also take off the activities section which I don't think is doing anything for you.
  10. As an international student, you should take off "fluent in English" or whatever it says about English in the language section. That type of thing should be assumed, and it can only serve to come across as you being FOB.
  11. Be more specific with your interests. They're extremely vague and generic as is. Specific type of swimming? Specific period of history? Specific types of movies? Specific type of travel? I could probably name 50 people who like history, movies, and travelling.
