Should I put return offer after spring week on CV

I just received a IBD return offer after converting a spring week at a MM (think Nomura/BNP/Santander)

Should I put “Received Return Offer” on my CV to make it look stronger for future apps (summer internship roles at BB/EBs)? Or does it backfire because it signals I'm likely to renege, and some firms might not like that?

Appreciate any thoughts - especially from people who’ve been in a similar situation.

Highlighting a return offer on your CV can be a strategic move, but it comes with nuances. Based on the most helpful WSO content:

  1. Pros of Including the Return Offer:

    • It demonstrates that you performed well enough during your spring week to secure a return offer, which signals competence and capability.
    • It can make your profile stand out, especially when applying to BBs/EBs, as it shows you’ve already been vetted by another reputable firm.
  2. Potential Risks:

    • Some firms might view it as a signal that you could renege on their offer, which could raise concerns about your commitment.
    • If the return offer is from a less prestigious firm (e.g., MM vs. BB/EB), it might not carry as much weight and could even be overlooked.
  3. Best Approach:

    • If you decide to include it, phrase it carefully. For example: “Offered return opportunity following successful completion of Spring Week at [Firm Name].” This wording highlights your achievement without explicitly signaling that you’re likely to renege.
    • Be prepared to address questions about the return offer during interviews. Emphasize your desire to explore other opportunities while maintaining professionalism and respect for the firm that extended the offer.

Ultimately, including the return offer can strengthen your CV, but how you present it and handle related discussions will determine its impact.
