Take out the "A in business accounting, statistics, etc.." you have a 3.7 - it is known that you have gotten more A's than B's and I could give a shit what classes those A's belong - accounting is not a difficult subject especially at the introductory level.

Squash makes you sound elitist but could also pique interest in you. Also you must live in GB because you spell traveling, "travelling" and think it is okay to talk about politics in the professional atmosphere.

If I were you I would leave being interested in "Global Politics" off your resume.

I didn't read any other part of your resume b/c at this point it would be in the trash. Sorry, it looked like it would have had some promise if I could have gotten past a few things but hey, that's consulting.

A's in courses --> gone Travelling --> In Canada, so Canadian spelling Politics --> good conversation starter, no? If too controversial, gone.

Now, I am in second year and so will not be recruiting for the consulting companies that come on campus. This resume is not in their pile yet, so it's not in their trash can. I'm looking for advice early so it doesn't make the trash can in the future.

Thanks for the response, and I've got some decent experience in there so if you don't mind taking a few minutes and reading it, what do you think about the rest?

WORK EXPERIENCE 1 Co-Founder & Co-Owner - Saying you co-founded venture is kind of redundant given the above line. I would try something like "Created a start-up business that identified a niche group of student organizations that were looking for the best strategy to market themselves to the student population and then helped them create marketing solutions and customized designs that help increased membership by XX% on average" (a little long winded but you figure out how to shorten) - grossed over 271% what? Return on seed capital? SAY THIS

WORK 2 Financial Advisor Associate - Restructured the institutionalized process of interns carrying out their business development duties and created a new program that will be implemented across blah blah blah (Not stuck on the wording but don't say you constructed it b/c they already had something in place - you just improved it) - I wouldn't say outperformed all interns (sounds big-headed) just say that you achieved the highest sales record blah

WORK 4 Youth Consultant -Be more specific on what you did, it sounds like this business you "advised" ended up being more successful than your shirt business. So why did they need your help?

EC 1 love the use of spearheaded ha.

EC 2 Was any legislation enacted because of your concert / campaign? just curious cause it sounds like there was in that third bulletpoint.

Dude, you have a great resume (even if you were a junior). Just make sure that in the interview you can speak intelligently about everything you've done and stress how your strong leadership, organizational skills and creativity helped aid in your success at each of these positions.

Another thing is be able to answer a lot of questions about your start-up. Is the idea scalable? (I would say no it's just something you used to test out your entrepreneurial spirit and make a little money on the side). How would you react to an increase in production costs? Accept a lower margin? Increase prices? - do you really think college student would be willing to pay that for a cheap Gildan Wear custom Tee? Just think of various scenarios.

Also something I believe to hold true about consulting interviews is that it is much more about your case interview than anything else so make sure to buy Case-in-Point and give it a heavy read or two. Best of luck man, seems like you'll be a great candidate.

Thanks a lot for the help man! If you were in my shoes, what would you gun for this summer?

TZ, since I'm sure you're sick of cold-calling people you could give boutique IB a shot.

why not try consulting? Not like you won't be able to apply again next year, but I would stray away from NYC and maybe try for something like toronto (offices in Canada). Sometimes there's a problem that if you do an IB internship the interviewers will think you want to do IB and are just interviewing for consulting as a second option.

That being said, an IB internship would be better than nothing and would make you much more competitive for a consulting position for your junior year if you couldn't get a consulting position.

If you don't want to shoot for MBB regional office than try Econ-consulting (Huron or something) this will give you a great experience too and you may find you enjoy it more than strategy or IT work.
