1st year ops looking for advice

Hi All

I recently graduated from a non-target state school and started a trading assistant gig at a BB. I originally came from a CC and didn't know much about finance as junior recruiting season approached so I feel pretty lucky to have secured a position in NYC.

I really like my role currently but can see it starting to become repetitive. Another thing that has been bothering me is part of my job is to streamline my role by testing new applications for the FO which will eventually make my job obsolete. Safe to say I don't see myself doing this as a long term career.

I'm thinking of either studying for the GMAT or doing CFA level 1 in June. I'm leaning more towards the CFA though as I feel my credentials to get into an MBA business schools">M7 are not as competitive as I would like.

My career goals are to eventually get into either a trading, Asset Management or some other type of buyside FO role. I would really appreciate some blunt advice here.. is my current outlook bleak or do you feel I could still leverage my way into my dream job?

Any advice would help.

Thank you
