MSc Imperial - Econ vs Finance & Accounting - Help

Hey all, I'm currently doing an application to Imperial (I know it it is very late, but have been put on waiting list for my desired course at the other uni). I don't have finance/accounting background (undergrad in business and some unrelated work experience), but will have M&A internship in a small regional boutique. Because of that, I think I have better chances of being admitted to Econ & Business Strategy for business course rather than F&A course. Although my main goal is to work in M&A (not necessarily BB), I am open to different positions as well. Do you think I have any chance for F&A course? Or should I not risk it and apply to Econ? Do I even have a chance of getting into banking in UK after MSc Econ from Imperial?
Or perhaps wait another year and get into desired course and uni (ranked above Imperial), though I will be older than average age
Any advice would help :)

I’ve applied to the F&A course and I’ve been put on the waitlist too. Based on conversations I’ve had with people who studied that degree or MSc Finance, the F&A is more closely aligned to your goal which is M&A as it’s more corporate finance focused. I can’t speak for Econ & Strategy for business (or whatever it’s called) but it does seem like people who study are more likely to aim for consulting, a small minority may aim for IB.

For Imperial, you’ve got until 17th June to submit your application and then it’ll be closed for the year.

Edit: for looking at chances of who gets IB from the course you’re applying to — go on LinkedIn, type “imperial [insert course name]” and filter by current company and choose bank(s) you’d want to apply to / work at

fingers crossed you get in! Though I've been put on a reserve list for LSE, not Imperial

I know F&A is literally perfect for my goal, however my background is not perfect for the admission team, hence I'm even scared to risk it. So I'm leaning more towards Econ course. It's just I barely see any alumni that went into banking on Linkedin, although I might be doing research wrong...

edit: ah, thanks for the advice!!

Thanks! My GPA is fine, it's just that I don't have relevant work experience yet (I do have one internship lined up this summer though)
I think I will go with the Econ program at the end, but eventually might decide to wait another year and apply again for LSE
