$40k for high school?

I finished sophomore year and am entering my junior year of high school. I’m a non-US resident and student that studied the national curriculum compared to the international recognized ones like IB, American, IGCSE, etc. I was thinking of switching to an American curriculum so that I may have a better chance at getting into schools abroad — I’m not just applying to the US. But my parents’ condition is that the difference in costs between the 2 schools will be taken from my college fund. The difference in cost is about $40k over 2 years, and my college fund without this would be around $100k — which is not just for tuition. So, should I spend the 40k in these 2 years for a better chance of getting into my dream schools, or save up that 40k and have a total of 150k (100k + 40k + 10k allowance because I won’t be moving out of my parents’), which would give me more financial flexibility when selecting colleges?

I’m aiming for quant, by the way. And the countries with the universities I’m applying to in the order from top to bottom priority are as follows: 1. The US 2. Switzerland 3. France 4. Germany 5. Spain

If it helps, I’m a UAE resident.
