Advice on Spring Weeks
Hello all,
I'm attending the University of St. Gallen in a couple of weeks, and I read that I should apply to the spring weeks to secure internships and network. The thing is that my grades from high school (Gymnasium) are not very good. I don't have job experience or anything, so I was wondering if I could do something to improve my chances.
My Grade is a 4.57 on the swiss scale, which is equivalent to ≈ 3.1 DE, ≈ 6.8 NL, ≈12.2 FR, ≈51 UK, ≈19.5 IT, a B (≈ 3) US
If it's relevant, I am fluent in German and English and can speak French and Chinese
I took a gap year in the USA if that helps my case.
All answers are appreciated!
The only thing you should be focused on is getting your grades up.
A 2.65 is a C+, that will not cut it anywhere unless your dad is one of the most important people at the firm.
Yeah, I didn't concentrate at all in school and didn't really care about my grades due to unis here taking anyone for the first year. Yeah if it helps my dad is on the board of directors of a BB bank but for my application, I won't mention it. I think this is just a missed opportunity due to these weeks being so important. Do you think if I ace my first exams at uni, I can get another shot?
Additionally, don't the banks have online tests, so I was wondering if I would be filtered out before that or if I could redeem myself by getting a good score in those?
You need to have your dad start calling his buddies.
With that GPA your resume is going straight in the trash - no human will even see it.
Thank you for your reply, i'll definetly ask my dad if he can do something. Otherwise ill just have to try in my schools Banking Days to get a SA Internship.
1. Banking Days won't help you to get a SW
2. Just leave out the GPA or apply after you get the mid-term grades
Thank you for your reply.
I understand, that the Banking Days won't help in getting an internship directly, but aren't they there for networking and getting to know the companies? Maybe this will help with getting internships (I dont have any experience myself with Banking Days, so feel free to correct me).
Yeah, leaving out the high school GPA sounds like a good idea. Thank you.
The Banking Days are overrated imo. Most of the times they only accept 2nd year students or older. Can't hurt to apply tho!
Reading the grade list to end up at 2.65 US
But fr, if its just your HS grades, dont include it, or wait to add midterm grades as others have said.
turns out I used the wrong calc. It's a 3.1 or a B. Still a bad grade and shouldve learned more
A 4.57 is def Not a 3.1 gpa
